On this channel we mainly talk about cookware. We look at the technicalities and science of each piece of cookware to a level not usually seen elsewhere. We don't just look at the cookware itself, we look at how it will work with your kitchen setup at home. We do cookware reviews, first impressions, we look at the value proposition of each piece, and sometimes we do cooking tests. Most importantly, there is no "political correctness" on this channel. Everything we say is 100% our honest and sometimes "brutal" opinion.

MQ is on record with 70 quoted claims across 3 sources — 30 supporting a product, 34 raising objections. MQ’s identity has not been manually verified.

Who is MQ?

MQ’s traits each carry their own evidence, so we can always say why we call MQ this.

What is MQ an authority on?

Authority is scoped to a domain: MQ being authoritative about cookware implies nothing about headphones, and this page will never claim otherwise.

this pan it desperately desperately needs a helper handle, which it does not have. So, the pan is already quite heavy, and if you got it full of water or liquid, that can weigh up to 5 kg, and it's very difficult to maneuver this with just one hand.

they are expensive, right? Especially if you live outside the EU. For example, the price here in New Zealand just for this 24 cm is over $500, right? And that's quite frankly ludicrous.

with that 20 20 cm model, you are really not getting any value for your money, so I would stay away from that one.

I will say that the quality of these pans, the quality of the metal of these pans, are obviously very high. You can just tell by looking at them and feeling them.

really really good pans as I've said many times before. I still really enjoy using them even at almost 5 years.

this saute pan is just too small for saute pans, all right? So, the useful the useful volume in this pan is only about 2.5 L, and that's very very limited considering the type of pan that it is.

it's because the bottom diameter is quite large, okay? So, these have a full 28 cm on the bottom, and you really should make sure you got a hob that's wide enough for these pans, otherwise you're not really getting the best out of them.
6:02 objects MQ Cookware Reviewer
the 20 cm Proline is built different, okay? So, the 24, 28, and 32 cm Proline are 4.8 mm thick, and that's why you want to buy Proline, right? That's the whole reason that you're buying a Proline. But the 20 cm Proline is only 3 mm thick, okay? So, it's basically like a Industry or Multiline with an with a Proline…

a 20 cm pan is just too small, right? It's too small to really be useful. It's barely enough to fry one egg or maybe a couple of sausages or a small piece of meat, and that's pretty much it.

Firstly, ask yourself, do you really need something that big? Personally, I do not.
the bottom diameter of this pan is approximately 26 cm, so that's very large. And that's too big for most ceramic and induction flat tops.

a couple more reasons not to buy these Atlantis pots. So, the first two reasons are the same, so they are thick and they are sorry, they are heavy, and they are expensive. So, those are valid reasons to not buy these pots.

for these type of pots, most of the time you don't need something this expensive and this premium, right? So, if all you're going to do is to do things like making stock, soup, boiling pasta, boiling cooking a bit of oatmeal, boiling some eggs, you can get a cheap IKEA pot, and it'll do the job just fine

let's quickly go through the three reasons why you should not buy the Proline, and which I've talked about before.

recommendation about Demeyere Proline owns and uses it daily Demeyere Atlantis and Proline 4.5 Years Long Term Review

I don't recommend this one because first of all, a 20 cm pan is just too small, right?

the weight and the thickness of this lid is extremely substantial so the total the total weight of this entire vessel this entire pen is 5.6 or let's say approximately 5.6 i waited on my scale and 2.5 of that is on the lid this is very thick and it's very heavy and it's much much thicker and heavier than this
they could they could have made this a bit thicker or a bit bigger and given us a heavier body and a in a slightly less heavy or lighter lid so that i found that a little bit strange as well
1:00 objects MQ Cookware Reviewer
the only reason for that or the obvious reason for that is that everything you can do in the brazer rather you can do in the dutch oven but not vice versa you can't do everything that you can do here in a bracer

performance about Le Creuset Braiser owns one Le Creuset Dutch Oven and Braiser Do You Need Both?

Cites lid (against), shape and form (against), size and capacity (against), versatility (against)

so firstly for a 30 centimeter diameter i was really hoping the cooking surface the flat usable cooking surface would be a bit bigger
in my opinion it would have been a bit better if they reduce the tapering here on the sides and you know and so then they could give us a little bit more surface on the bottom
the second point is that i find this pen a little bit too shallow that's going to sound like a double standard because obviously it's not a dark oven it's not meant to be tall like a dutch oven but nevertheless i do find it a bit too to do shallow
this lid is a very tall lid for the type of pan so i mean they could have made the lid a little bit less tall and put some extra height on the pan
i cannot i cannot say in good conscience that this is more practical than this because this is better in terms of volume and this is also better in terms of the amount of cooking surface that it gives you

and the best thing about this pan is that it's got a very very thick aluminium bottom so the heat retention here on the bottom is i haven't calculated it but just to estimate it's more than double of the heat retention you get at the bottom of the stove or even the licorice site even though these are cast iron this is…

dislike about the pen well there are a couple of things now the first dislike is this lid no i think this lid is too small um when you put the lid on the pan it's exactly the same diameter as the pen itself which means if you move the lid like this sideways you can actually see a gap between the lid and the edge of…
now the second problem which is even bigger problem i think is the lid it doesn't fit that securely on the pan okay so i'll show you what i mean if you till the pan and if you're just a little bit rough the lid can easily slide off well it's not happening now but if you just give it a little push the lid easily slides…
now the second dislike with this pen is well i mean it's a design choice by stove but i'm not a fan of the black interior okay so i prefer i prefer to have a light colored interior light by like crossing so that i can see the browning or the progress of my cooking easier than the black interior

at at first, I thought this was maybe just all marketing, maybe a bit of a gimmick. Now, but now after 4 and 1/2 years, and looking at how shiny these pans still are, so maybe there is some benefit, but but I will say that it's not something that you will notice in the very short term, okay?

if we look at these last three rows uh the temperature diff of the liquid side between the center and the edge um they definitely converge better than the stove okay but again it's not really a significant difference it's not significant significant enough for me to say
so first of all in terms of cooking you are not really going not going to notice the difference okay so getting a soap and a licorice i think they are both going to work really well for you
