Getting back to the non-stick surface, another added benefit is how easy they are to clean. I don't think anything can provide more proof about their ease of cleaning than their still like new appearance 18 months after their first use.
This is me opening them in December of 2023. And to get right to the point, it's held up remarkably well. These pans that we purchased 18 months ago still look brand new.

So, the question remains, is HexClad the right pan or pot for you? If you want nonstick with the ability to use metal utensils, this fits the bill. I didn't touch the pan for about a minute, and then I grabbed my ThermoWorks silicone to see if I could get the egg up without breaking it. Turns out I could, and I was able to flip and finish this over medium egg in the HexClad without it sticking.

I’ve used it to cook crispy bacon, brown and roast chicken, and fry chicken cutlets, and it performs similar to stainless steel. It heats up quickly, maintains a stable temperature and delivers consistent results.
The bacon came out perfectly crispy and the chicken seared nice and even.
I had no issues with eggs sticking as long as the surface was greased with plenty of oil or butter.
HexClad performed well, not only were the bubbles uniform across the cooking surface which indicates even heating, but it was one of the fastest pans to boil the water.
As you can see in the results, HexClad’s heat retention is above average and better than brands like Calphalon, Hestan, and All-Clad.
Another benefit I want to highlight is how easy Hexclad is to clean. It cleans up like a typical non-stick pan. Unless you really scorch it, a quick rinse with soap and water will do the trick.

but I have been able to chip off the nonstick coating in two very small places. I had to look pretty hard to find these, but it looks like my heavy metal utensil usage found a way past the stainless.

The visible flaking of the PTFE coating on this pan is really found on the top rim. During daily use, I hadn't noticed this until inspecting closely for this video, but in quite a few places, the top row of nonstick is missing. It blends in with the stainless top rim, and I'm guessing that's why I didn't notice it…

The bottom of the pan is flat and hasn't warped
These are my results with heavy use, but I didn't intentionally abuse it to see if I could get it to fail. Just regular old use, and it has largely stood up to what we threw at it.
HexClad also says that these pans are metal utensil safe, and other than the two very small nicks I have in my 12-in pan here, I can't see any other signs of metal utensils doing any damage. I also can't absolutely verify that it was metal utensils that caused this damage since family members from all over the country…

Eggs without oil, pretty much the same as a year ago. A small patch stuck to the surface. The rest of the egg came off fine, but that little spot left behind tiny bits I had to scrape away.

I'll be honest, I never cook this on a hex plad. And here's why. The omelette sticks and scorches right here in the center of the pan.
So, in this round, hexclad doesn't quite match the performance of a good non-stick pan.
But I kept checking because I was worried it might creep toward 500°, the point where Teflon can start breaking down.
In our test, the edges of the pan stayed cooler, about 320 to 355°, making the oil splash and bake around the rims.

Right when I opened the package, I noticed the cooking surface wasn’t completely flat. Instead, it curved upwards in the center. I was surprised to see this because fully-clad steel pans like these typically don’t warp.

HexClad handles are relatively short. The handle on the 12-inch fry pan is 8 inches long. For comparison, All-Clad Non-Stick handles are 9 inches. Your hand will be a bit closer to the heat, and while the end of the handle stays cool on the stove, it starts to get hot about 2 inches past where the handle forks.

If your hands are greasy or wet, or you’re holding a towel or pot holder, there’s a high risk that the handle will rotate. The round handles work fine for most cooking, but you’ll need to be extra careful when tilting the pan.

Here's one cooked on the hexclad. And here is one cooked on cast iron. At first glance, both look pretty good. Nice crust. Both cooked to medium rare.

Which makes me question, what's the point of buying a pan that's advertised as fully nonstick, the kind you can supposedly cook anything on if you still need oil to make it work. Because if you're going to use oil anyway, you could just use a regular stainless steel or cast iron pan.

the telltale sign that it's been used a bunch is the dingy residue that's on the top of the pan sidewall. I have a hard time getting this stuff off, and eventually, it just becomes stuck on, and I don't worry about it. I will bet that the new hexclad ceramic mixture is going to be a huge failure if they had cracked the code on this they would have done a lot more to have promoted something revolutionary truly a revolutionary and Industry changing

It's uh nice and well-formed all the way around. And if you look at the bottom of the pan, it's the same deal. In fact, I'm going to try to get this so you don't get your eyeballs glared out right here. But, the surface of this is perfect. There's no discoloration anywhere. It looks pretty much like a brand new pan.
Hex patterns on the side. No problem there. No discoloration. No busted hexagons or anything. And then down on the surface here, you can see how even that looks. There's not any problems with this.
So again, you wouldn't think that this had anywhere near this kind of usage on it. It's still in perfect shape as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, this is ceramic, but I haven't seen enough data saying that it's not going to be bad for a ceramic coating, too. And even if there was data that said that, I still wouldn't put them in the dishwasher. I just hand wash them, hand dry them, and then they just stay perfect. It's not that difficult to do.
This one uh has a few scratches on here. It's not so bad. But again, this would still pass as a new pan, too.
we don't really have any imperfections, we don't have any scratches anywhere, there's no areas where that nonstick coating has come off. So, from a physical appearance standpoint, all of these pans look cosmetically perfect.
You can see that my rim is still nice and shiny.
I use them on my pans and I haven't seen any problems with it, but it is a lot more abrasive.
After 2 years of use, my Hexclad pans have held up really well.

Well, that's where there's a little bit of fallacy with HexClad. HexClad pans are not nonstick pans. HexClad pans are hybrid nonstick. But you can feel it try to stick just that little bit. See even if I try to swirl this around, it's not really going anywhere. There is a little bit friction there. But you can see I can move the egg around, no problem.
And that's because if I were to just stack this in here like this, then the bottom of this pan is going to be rubbing directly on the top of this other HexClad pan, and that could damage it over time, especially if this rotates around.

Just because HexClad says that this surface is really strong. In fact, on their website, they say that this is almost indestructible. if you put your pans into the oven, these are only rated up to 400° F, but the pans can handle more than that. So, just remember that if you're cooking over 400°, that you can't [music] put these in the oven, otherwise you can shatter them.
I got a bit of a hard time with that. I mean, I don't want to say that Hexclad's lying about that or anything, but 900° is pretty hot. And the reasoning behind it, I'm not really sure if I buy it or not.
I do have a few little scratches in the handle, but it's no big deal. There's one right there. And in fact, that scratch, I believe was there right out of the factory.
I personally won't use metal utensils on any of my pans. I'm just not going to do it. I don't care if HexClad says that you can. I never have, and I never will. That's much different than the complaints you might have seen in other YouTube videos and from people complaining online elsewhere. Cuz I see people with all this stuff starting to chip off of here, the pans just not being nonstick at all, and everything's sticking to them, and all sorts of other complaints.
In fact, um HexClad does have a lifetime warranty on their pans, but uh usually a lifetime warranty is the lifetime of the pan. It's not your lifetime.
Now, this is made for stainless steel pans. And if you're going to use it on a HexClad pan, you got to be a little bit careful because you don't want to be using that on that nonstick surface. You can really wreck that, I think.
Remember, keeping them clean is a big deal because if you got stains on a pan and you repeatedly heat that pan up again with those stains on it, those will get harder and harder to remove.
Since then, Hexclad introduced its PTFE and PFAS free terabond ceramic coating. On paper, that removes the safety concerns, but ceramic generally wears faster, scratches more easily, and loses its nonstick sooner than PTFE hybrids.

This is my wok. It gets the least use. In fact, in 2 years, I think I've maybe used this thing six or seven times.
Luckily, I've never had to call them for anything, but it also means I can't really comment on their customer service much because uh I have no idea.
