so it comes uh wrapped obviously it's not all oily because it's uh been seasoned by them usually when I order pans I order them uh seasoned you know they uh they do them in you know I don't know they they're just always even and and pretty nice
Cites coating, non-stick surface, seasoning durability, surface finish, warp resistance
and they've machined the entire inside so the outside has the traditional texture in fact it's way smoother right out of the right out of the box than you would get on like say a lodge or some other mass produced Skillet
but what they've done is put this Pan on a lathe the entire pan and spun it uh to completely machine the inside so it's very smooth but it's not so smooth that that you would think that it's not going to hold seasoning
and as I'm heating it up to uh take care of that extra seasoning uh the pan doesn't Flex at all stays perfectly flat
oh yeah I can tell already you know you just can't get a fried egg to do this in a Teflon pan I mean look at that this look at that it's like almost almost non-stick I mean it's fantastic
um this is uh the closest thing to carbon steel in cast iron uh that that I've ever used really impressed with the weight

what I really love to use this pan for is pancakes believe it or not if you do a lot of delicate stuff like pancakes or Crepes like that and you don't want them to stick but you still want to get nice color on them enameled cast iron is perfect for that
Cites non-stick surface
there's also enamel coated cast iron now this is from stab this is a beautiful beautiful pan heavy pan
Cites appearance
I wouldn't use this to sear steaks because of the enamel coating

Isaac Morton works for this brand. Stated in the source: “Isaac Morton, the founder of Smithey Ironware, says” Kept and labelled rather than dropped: a paid endorsement is still evidence, and you should be the one to decide what it is worth.
You can use these outdoors. They're excellent over a fire, uh on the grill, um or on your range at home. That's really one of the real benefits of cast iron is it's very versatile.

Not a recommendation for a specific product: technique, materials and what to look for in cast iron skillets. Citable on its own terms. There are 16 of them; the 13 with the strongest evidence are below.
if you do a lot of steaks and you love a really thick Dark Crust on your steaks with a medium Center like I do there's really nothing better than cast iron
Cites heat retention, searing and crust
but a five ply will do that also
but this is great for like I love doing stir fries in this I love doing searing steaks in this is great
Cites heat retention, searing and crust
cast iron if I'm going to seirus steak I'm probably going to do it in a cast iron pan
this cast iron I particularly love to use for frittatas it's the perfect depth it holds the heat really well and it Cooks the frittatas perfectly like a nice thick frittata so I do love that small 8 in
I love to use cast iron on open fire on the grill on the smoker there's really nothing better for open fire than cast iron and Searing a steak
but like I mentioned in the beginning of this video a very well-made 5 to S ply stainless steel pan will SE a steak very well also
I'd go with the big cast iron because it's so useful for so many things on the fire
I'd go with the big cast iron because it's so useful for so many things on the fire
there's three ply there's five ply there's seven ply Alloys that are stainless steel with titanium to make them stronger and last longer and look better for a longer time period

cast iron awesome example of how you get this wonderful buffer of kind of hot to cold in there you can cook things at a kind of different results because of this really nice buffer of low heat low-ish heat will give you that non-stick and high-ish heat will give you that non-stick and you can kind of regulate the heat…

where it might be in your best interest to spend the 80 bucks and pick up a cast iron skillet from somewhere like amazon with a lid and be done with it full disclosure anything that i have linked down below at no cost to you i get a little tiny commission off of it but hey it helps to support this channel and it may…
realistically i can pick up a cast iron skillet with a lid to keep from splattering and take that cast iron skillet and finish it off in the oven and it'll be really easy to clean you just wipe it down
Two judgements rest on this sentence:
The cast iron market wasn't really delivering what it had a hundred years ago, and there wasn't a good reason for that. And most modern cast iron is rough and has this sandy surface, it's difficult to clean and it's not quite as enjoyable to cook on.
Three judgements rest on this sentence:
This piece was really beautiful, it was well-polished. The surface was super smooth. It made me a cast iron junkie.
Cites appearance, surface finish
in particular their smooth surface um weren't being manufactured anymore
Cites surface finish
there is not any cast iron produced in the United States that's made that down at that wall thickness there is not in a cast iron that's made at that's smoothness
Cites surface finish (against)
That's what really got me interested in cast iron is looking at old heirloom pieces that I thought had really nice cooking qualities
I dropped the pan that tumbled down the stairs and I could hear it going ding-ding-ding clunk and on the clunk I knew that it had that it had cracked
I cooked in my grandmother's pan for 35 years until one day up on the Choptank at our at our house there we'd finish breakfast and I was walking out and did the yard scraped something out of the pan into the compost pile I dropped the pan that tumbled down the stairs and I could hear it going ding-ding-ding clunk and…
Owned 35 years, no longer, stopped because the pan cracked after being dropped down the stairs
